Naked Attraction host Anna Richardson has delivered a verdict on the future of the popular and unconventional Channel 4 show as fans have been questioning whether or not it’s set for a return

Anna Richardson confirms future of Naked Attraction

TV presenter Anna Richardson has shed light on the future of Naked Attraction. The hit show’s premise involves a clothed single person presented with a gallery of six nude potential partners, who are hidden behind differently colored booths that concurrently reveal themselves from the bottom up.

When it first aired on TV screens back in 2016, it caused quite the controversy among Channel 4 viewers with many calling it ‘vulgar’ and ‘unnecessary’. Numerous complaints about the programme were made by viewers to the broadcasting watchdog Ofcom due to the full-frontal nudity that is featured in the programme.

Ofcom chose not to investigate as there was nothing that breached their rules: the show was purely a dating show and did not contain any sexual activity, and was shown after the watershed.

However as the series’ continued, Anna, 54, and her flamboyant and cheeky contestants won the hearts of the nation, with the show going on to have seven more series’ after the first one aired – with the last one being broadcast in March 2024. Since then, the show has remained off-air as fans continue to question whether or not it will ever make a return.

Speaking exclusively to The Mirror about the future of the Channel 4 show, Anna shared that sadly, there are currently no plans for a return. “Unfortunately not, that’s down to Channel 4 and the team at Studio Lambert. But I too am desperate for this to come back – it’s my favourite show ever. I think we should all petition to Channel 4 to get the next season out there as soon as possible.”

On what drew her to the unconventional show, Anna explained: “I’ve been drawn to bold and unconventional projects because I’m bold and unconventional myself.

“My dad’s a vicar and my mum’s an RE teacher, and so there were all types of people who walked through our vicarage door all the time. I was told I had to be a ‘good girl’ and that there were certain things we couldn’t talk about – which I always rallied against. I must’ve been a nightmare!

“But that inquisitiveness drove me throughout my career to Naked Attraction. And while it was great telly and we all had a bit of a giggle, at the heart of it, the show was all about facing stigma. We faced stigma, bias and misconceptions – quite literally – face-on, which I loved, because it helped us to address real conversations that needed to be had in our communities.”

Reflecting on the many different contestants who have appeared on the show from many different walks of life, Anna shared that there’s one particular guest who stands in her memory.

“Who could ever forget Judith – the church-going choir member who came on set with her Casio organ to sing the ‘Lord is My Shepherd’… and when the screen went up, she did something very special with her homemade Victoria sponge, which then broke the internet.”

When asked if any moment on the show has ever shocked her, Anna revealed that she’s seen it all. “It takes a lot to shock me, so in moments like that my natural response is to go straight to duty of care – to make sure the contestant is comfortable, safe and will be cared for.

“Nothing you can do or say would embarrass me, I’ve seen it all… I’ve learnt so much about the human body than I thought I would by my age, that I really should be an honorary medic.”
