Bob Mortimer has opened up about his critically-acclaimed performance on Prime Video’s Last One Laughing, revealing that he targeted one co-star in particular. The new reality competition sees ten comedians attempt to make one another laugh within six hours without breaking into a giggle themselves.

Viewers couldn’t get enough of Bob, who broke a number of his fellow comedians with his various comedy bits. In one scene, viewers watched as he attempted to tickle Daisy May Cooper with one of his original songs. “Slender people fit through gaps and slender men look sweet in f**king slacks,” he sings to Daisy. “Slender ladies can kick you in the head and slender people take up less room in bed. Raspberry jam is nice but it’s full of bloody pips, lemon curd is tasty but inches on your hips. Pâté spreads quite easy but it tastes of cigarettes. Tomorrow I shall kill again this time in Dungeness.”

Filming a behind-the-scenes video for Prime Video, Bob has now opened up about his competition strategy. “My tactic for Last One Laughing was to avoid Richard [Ayoade] at all times and Richard nearly provided my downfall as you’ll see,” he said in the video.

“Also, my tactic was to attack Daisy May Cooper with passion, to see if I could get her out of there because I thought she had winner written all over her.”

Viewers quickly took to social media to praise Bob’s musical talents, with one writing: “An instant classic Mortimer moment. I love Richard Ayoade wandering in the background desperately trying to stay far away and distract himself.”

Another wrote: “I wouldn’t last three seconds not laughing with Bob in a room.”

Last One Laughing viewers will know that it was Bob’s joke that won the competition when just Bob and Richard remained as minutes remained on the clock. “I was in the cemetery and I saw a bloke get up from behind a gravestone. ‘Morning,’ I said. ‘No – just having a s**t,’” Bob told Richard, who finally burst into laughter.

“What I now realise I’d done was essentially sign up to be in goal and just have someone take penalty after penalty after penalty,” Richard said in the aftermath. “I had nothing and he was on a horse opposite me with a pocket full of material.”
