With two football teams’ worth of kids (plus grandchildren) the matriarch of Britain’s biggest family, Sue Radford, was suitably spoiled as she marked her milestone birthday

Sue Radford, famed for having 22 children, turns fifty today – and her huge brood have been making a real fuss of her. Posting to Instagram, Sue gave a glimpse into how her big day has unfolded. The day began with a glass of pink champagne with her husband.

The family’s living room was filled with cards and flowers, and had been decorated overnight with precious family photos from some of their sunnyholidays delicately dangling from the ceiling on pieces of hot pink ribbon.

One which she picked out to share with fans featured her and one of her daughters posing by some elaborate Beauty and the Beast inspired topiary at a Disney theme park.

The family often travel to Florida to visit Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, and share their adventures with fans through their social channel and YouTube vlogs.

Fans love following their family updates, home renovations, and luxury purchases. Sue also reposted some sweet Instagram stories shared by her daughters and one of her daughter-in-laws. All of them featured treasured never seen before photos of Sue, and heartfelt gratitude for all that she has done for them and the wider family.

Ellie wrote: “Big happy birthday to my mum, thank you for everything that you do for me. I LOVE YOU.”

Millie shared a photo of Sue helping her get ready at her wedding. She wrote: “Happy birthday to the most amazing lady our mum/nan. We hope you have the most amazing day ever. Thank you so much for everything you do for us.”

Sophie wrote: “Huge happy 50th birthday to my beautiful mother. Thank you for everything you do for all of us. You are our rock. Love you always.” Aimee Radford shared a montage of photos of herself with her mum and some of her siblings.

Posting from the family’s official Instagram account, Noel shared a carousel of beautiful photos of his childhood sweetheart.

He wrote: “Myself and all of our children want to wish this beautiful, loving, caring lady who we all call Sue and Mum a Happy big 50th Birthday today or as Sue says I’m 49 plus 1.”

If the weather is nice in Morecambe, the family can enjoy a dip in their new £40,000 hydropool which they unveiled on Instagram on Thursday. There’s more to look forward to for Sue in 2025. She revealed that to soften the blow of turning 50 she plans to spend the whole year celebrating.

Sue had her first child at 14, and married Noel when she was 17 and he was 21

It will start with huge family holiday to Walt Disney World, Florida, with all the children and grandchildren, then a couple’s holiday for her and husband Noel.

Sue told The Mirror: “Turning 50 is such a big deal. I remember when I was 40 and that was a big deal. I absolutely hated it! So [this time], I said: ‘You know what, because I am turning 50, I am definitely having a whole year of celebrations!’ I think if you are going to turn 50, to soften the blow a little bit, it’s got to be big… It will be nice to do a few things!”
