Joe Swash has come underfire despite just one episode of his new reality show with wife Stacey Solomon airing, with some branding his parenting style as ‘chaotic’

TV star Joe Swash has been criticised after the first episode of his new reality show with Stacey Solomon aired on the BBC. The couple made the decision to welcome the cameras into their home for Stacey And Joe, giving fans a glimpse behind the scenes at their extravagant mock Tudor home, called Pickle Cottage.

But while it seems on the outside that their marriage is on top form, the pair have proven that this is not the case after a tell tale sign.

During the show, Stacey, 35, is seen reminding Joe, 43, who was away on a fishing trip, that the couple had a business meeting the next morning at 10am to discuss a perfume launch. “I’m going to try and get home for 10,” he said.

An annoyed Stacey responded: “What do you mean try? Otherwise I’ve got to change the meeting.” She added: “Why is ‘try my hardest’ even part of that sentence?”, when Joe explained he would attempt to get home on time. But things didn’t stop there, despite Joe being away, he said if Stacey woke him up, he would be there.

This is when the cracks started to show as Stacey revealed she didn’t have the time to do that as she had to sort their house out, get their children to school and plan for the meeting. “He’s not coming back at 10, is he?,” a furious Stacey asked the camera.

Joe, 43, returned home five hours late, which left Stacey juggling planning her perfume launch while looking after their young children. The couple share Rex, five, Rose, three and two-year-old Belle. Meanwhile Stacey is also mum to Zachary, 17 and Leighton, 12. Joe is also dad to son Harry, born in 2007.

A fuming Stacey said: “Joe was supposed to come home for this meeting but he’s been delayed, indefinitely it seems,” as she apologised to the fragrance team for the interruptions from her children.

Speaking to the camera, Stacey fumed: “Sometimes, I don’t think Joe realises the repercussions, sometimes it’s all a laugh or a joke but that meeting is really important to me. We know our diaries are only going to get busier and busier and at the first meeting before all that happens, you’re not there.”

Joe later explained that there had been an accident on the road, causing him to be 20 minutes late – when Stacey explained he was actually five hours late. The scenes haven’t gone down too well with social media users who were left aghast by Joe’s actions. One fan fumed: “Gosh Joe Swash is not coming across well! He really takes @StaceySolomon for granted!”

A second added: “It’s impossible to dislike Joe Swash. But his utterly chaotic approach to looking after five kids turns this reality show into a nightmarishly stressful watch.”

“Stacey needs a medal to live with Joe,” exclaimed a third disgruntled viewer. Meanwhile, some viewers were left baffled after noticing Joe spreading butter on toast – with a spoon.

“Last night I watched the first ep of #StaceyAndJoe on @BBCOne with @StaceySolomon & Joe Swash. I already love them & after this I love them even more. Cameras following for 6 months as they celebrate a 2nd anniversary & Turkey holiday. Does Joe spread butter with a spoon? 7/10,” said one.

A second added: “Seeing Swash spreading butter on toast with a spoon was more than I could bear. Switched off.”
