Prime Video show Last One Laughing is packed with comedy cameos, format twists and surprises designed to lure a laugh from the players – and it’s not just the comics left giggling

Prime Video comedy series Last One Laughing left viewers demanding more after its final rib-tickling final episode.

The series sees many of the UK’s leading comedians spend six hours in one room with the goal of making one another laugh without cracking themselves, reached its conclusion. It was funnymen Richard Ayoade and Bob Mortimer who found themselves in the final with just minutes to go before the competition was over.

The pair took it in turns to make the other burst but Richard soon realised that he had made a huge error by allowing Bob to perform jokes from his book. The experienced comic broke him with his final gag. “I was in the cemetery and I saw a bloke get up from behind a gravestone. ‘Morning,’ I said. ‘No – just having a s**t.” That was too much for Richard, who burst into laughter – handing Bob the crown.

“What I now realise I’d done was essentially sign up to be in goal and just have someone take penalty after penalty after penalty,” Richard said in the aftermath. “I had nothing and he was on a horse opposite me with a pocket full of material.” Fans have called for more after the series drew to a close.

One wrote on X: “Last one laughing, proper bit of television.” Another put: “Feel lost now I’ve finished last one laughing. I want more!!!! Another tweeted: “Richard Ayoade v Bob Mortimer on last one laughing was f**king incredible.” A fourth said: “@RichardAyoade and Bob Mortimer @bobmortimer51 in the try not to laugh game on @PrimeVideo Last One Laughing UK made my belly burst, heart sing and mind explode.”

Reflecting on his victory, Bob said: “It felt like when I was a lot younger and I lived in a shared house with people I really liked. I could have sat in there for a lot longer. I’m an old bloke, I don’t see many people. “I was so happy with the people who were in there with me – they were all superb.”

Richard went on to say after losing. “I was very intense. It was like DeNiro and Pacino in Heat. I’d be DeNiro because DeNiro is gunned down in the end. It would have been very strange for Bob not to win. It would be like watching a Rocky film and then the other person wins.”

Daisy May Cooper, Joe Lycett and Rob Beckett were just a few of the other comics to take part. Fans of the show were surprised to see Danny Dyer make an appearance under the guise of Harry Potter, during a sketch where he attempts to stage a confrontation with Rob. While in character, the soap star asked: “Right, where’s this f**king Dumbledore?”

Rob put himself forward as the wizard, only to be bamboozled by the question: “Do you want to make one with me Dumbledore?” The Celebs Go Dating narrator clearly had no idea what Danny wanted him to make. Confused, Rob turned to aggression in an attempt to keep himself from bursting into awkward laughter.
