ITV is making changes to its Wednesday daytime schedule, impacting two popular shows. Loose Women and This Morning were both taken off air to make way for The Chancellor’s Statement.
Loose Women has been forced off the air for a day
ITV have revealed a major shake-up to their TV scheduling on Wednesday. Two of the networks biggest shows, This Morning and Loose Women will not air as part of their regular broadcasting slots. Loose, which typically broadcasts on weekdays from 12:30pm to 1:30pm, will not air at all. Presenter Ruth Langsford informed viewers about the schedule change at the conclusion of Tuesday’s episode.
Instead of the popular talk show, ITV will air The Chancellor’s Spring Statement 2025 in its place. Ruth told the audience: “We’ve got to go unfortunately! We’d love to stay for the afternoon.
“We’re not here tomorrow either because of the spring statement. I’m sure you’re all looking forward to that!” Mariella Frostrup then asked: “It’s not called a budget anymore?”
“No, it’s the spring statement tomorrow,” Ruth replied. She then confirmed when the show would return, adding: “We are going to be back on Thursday with Adolescence actor Mark Stanley.

“Hopefully you can join us then. Till then have a lovely afternoon, good bye!” The statement, which is set to begin at 12:15pm and lasted until 1:50pm, will run for a total of one hour and 35 minutes. The TV schedule described the segment as: “What the Chancellor’s Statement means for households around the UK.”
The Spring statement gives Parliament and the country an update on the economy, government spending, and progress on economic goals.. The Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rachel Reeves, will deliver the Statement after Prime Minister’s Questions around 12:30pm on Wednesday.
This Morning, presented by Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard, is also affected, as its usual 10:00am to 12:30pm slot would have overlapped with the schedule change.
Loose Women faced another schedule shake up earlier this month. As the annual Cheltenham Festival kicked off for another year, the Loose Women panel had their schedules cleared as the sporting coverage took over the ITV’s usual afternoon slot. Unfortunately for avid fans of the panel show, the shake-up meant that Loose Women didn’t air at all that week.
This comes after host Ruth faced a difficult time last year when she split from her husband, Eamonn Holmes, after 14 years of marriage. Ruth is now said to be ‘living life to the fullest’ after being ‘stifled’ by ex Eamonn Holmes. The Loose Women presenter, 65, recently celebrated her first birthday after her split with a number of close friends as they travelled to Saint Vincent to soak up the sunshine and sip on cocktails.

She shocked fans when it was announced she and Eamonn went their separate ways last spring. Eamonn has since moved on with his new girlfriend Katie Alexander, with the pair showcasing their romance with trips and outings. The former couple, who had been together since 1996 and married since 2010, announced their shock split after 14 years of marriage.
Last week, Ruth took to her Instagram to share a snap of herself sitting in the sand as she enjoyed the sunset on the beach. She wrote: “So this is 65” before thanking fans for their support.
She also posted a compilation video of all the best moments from her trip, including snaps of her pals as well as the gorgeous scenery and the endless flow of cocktails.

“What a birthday! Celebrated it in the sunshine with my best pals @lucyalexandertv & @louiseathenapr (missed you @hungrywomancooks) Sun, sea, sand, MANY cocktails and laughing until we cried!” she wrote.
“Perfect. We stayed at the all inclusive @sandals_uk resort in St.Vincent…absolutely beautiful (not an Ad, bought & paid for!) Wonderful accommodation, beautiful beaches, fabulous restaurants, great spa and, as much as I love them, no children!! Want to go back!”
A source told MailOnline that Ruth wants to “let her hair down” after a challenging year following her split. “This is the new Ruth that wanted to come out but was stifled by Eamonn, and this is her free,” the insider claimed.
