The Loose Women panelists were left amazed to learn of guest Hattie Dynevor’s link to Coronation Street that goes back generations
Hattie Dynevor reveals her grandparents met on Corrie
Loose Women welcomed Waterloo Road star Hattie Dynevor on Monday’s show.
Hattie, 21, plays Libby Guthrie on the BBC high school series, and while appearing on the ITV chat show, talk got onto her various links to Coronation Street.
‌
The actress is the daughter of Sally Dynevor, who plays Sally Metcalfe on the cobbles, and Emmerdale scriptwriter Tim Dynevor. However, her soap link goes back even further than that.
Appearing on Loose Women, panellist Sue Cleaver, who plays Eileen Grimshaw on the soap, said: “Not only did you grow up with Corrie, if I get this right, your grandfather was a director on Corrie, your grandmother acted in Corrie and was also a floor manager and then your mum!”
To which Hattie explained: “Yeah, my grandma and grandpa met on Corrie!” with Sue asking: “Didn’t your mum and dad meet on Corrie?” as Hattie replied: “Yeah through my grandma!”

Talking about her grandma’s role on the cobbles, Hattie said: “My grandma was like a runner, a floor runner, then she met my grandpa and then my mum met my dad through my grandma.
“She had invited her over for dinner. She was like you have to meet Tim and they all had a dinner party, that’s how they met!”
Hattie’s father, Tim, is the son of Shirley and Gerard Dynevor. Shirley worked as a stage manager on Coronation Street, as well as acting in other TV shows, while Gerard directed Coronation Street in the 1960s.
Asked whether she’d like to join Coronation Street with all her family links, Hattie admitted: “I would never rule it out! But I’m just focusing on Waterloo Road at the moment!”

Hattie isn’t the only member of her siblings to follow in her famous parents and grandparents’ footsteps.
The actress is the younger sister of Phoebe Dynevor, who soared to fame in hit Netflix series Bridgerton as Daphne in 2020.
Phoebe, 29, also started her career on Waterloo Road, playing Siobhan Mailey from 2009 to 2010.
It comes as Corrie legend Sally admitted she was “so proud” of her daughter Hattie landing a role on Waterloo Road.
Taking to Instagram in 2023, Sally announced the news, writing: “So proud of you @hattiedynevorr joining @waterlooroad playing Libby Guthrie. Such a fabulous cast and crew. @revolutiontalent_” with a heart emoji.
