Sarah Ferguson has shared an incredibly sweet throwback snap to mark her daughter Princess Eugenie’s birthday and fans have gone wild over the cute photo

It was a very special weekend for Princess Eugenie, who celebrated her 35th birthday on Sunday with her family. Eugenie – Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson’s youngest daughter – enjoyed a low-key day with her husband Jack Brooksbank and their two young sons, August, three, and one-year-old Ernest.

She did share a special photo with her followers on Instagram, however – a rare photo of both her boys. The wholesome image shows the royal beaming from ear to ear as she enjoyed a quiet moment outside with her two boys. Eugenie is facing the camera while sitting at a kids’ wooden picnic table, while August and Ernest tuck into plates of food with their backs to the camera. “Birthday besties…,” she captioned the post.

The Princess wasn’t the only one to share precious family photos on the day. Her proud mum Sarah took to Instagram with a throwback photo showing a young Eugenie walking hand-in-hand with Sarah and her older sister Princess Beatrice, before giving followers a glimpse of her delicious sweet treat.

In total, Sarah shared three images; the throwback, a more recent photo of Eugenie, and one of her beautiful birthday cake. Designed with pink and white stripes, it was decorated with miniature white meringues and fresh and freeze-dried raspberries. A white disc resting on the cake read: “Happy birthday Eugie Boogie.”

In her heartfelt caption, Sarah wrote: “Wishing a wonderful birthday to my beloved daughter, @princesseugenie! It has been a joy to watch you grow into such an extraordinary person, full of kindness, wisdom and strength. Your generosity and warmth brighten the lives of so many, and I am endlessly proud of all that you do. With all my love on your special day. X.”

Sarah’s post was quickly inundated with happy birthday messages for Eugenie. “Happy birthday to your beautiful princess Eugenie,” one person wrote, while a second said: “She is a credit to you, both your girls are.” A third said: “What a beautiful cake! Happy birthday, Eugenie!” And a fourth sweetly added: “You are such a lovely mother, it’s no wonder she is too.”

Eugenie and her husband, British marketing executive Jack, 38, currently balance their busy family life between London and Portugal. The family-of-four often head abroad while Jack focuses on his business ventures, though they frequently return to the UK and stay at their London base, Ivy Cottage, located on the Kensington Palace grounds.

Speaking previously on the Table Manners podcast, Eugenie – who married Jack at Windsor Castle back in October 2018 – opened up about the ease and comfort of their lifestyle in Portugal. “This is why Portugal is the dream because I can go to the supermarket in my exercise gear and my hair piled on my head and not mind. Not care. No one cares.”
