Stacey Solomon recalls getting emotinal over son’s wedding speech

Stacey Solomon has recalled how she was left ‘in tears’ on her wedding day after her teenage son’s emotional speech. The TV star tied the knot with former EastEnders actor Joe Swash back in July 2022.

Stacey, 35, has now opened up about the emotional day on the latest episode of her new documentary, Stacey & Joe. The first episode, which filmed last year but aired tonight, featured Stacey and Joe’s second wedding anniversary and in one scene, sitting around the table with her family, Stacey said to son Zachary, now 17: “Do you remember your best man speech Zach?”

Stacey added: “That was like the biggest achievement, that he made us all cry on our wedding day.”

Stacey and Joe then turned their attention to Stacey’s dad, David as Joe quipped: “Do a re-creation of your speech Dave.” Stacey then joked: “Oh no, not that, that was the longest speech of all time, oh my god, do you remember when dad started talking and the sun actually went down before he finished his speech.”

The family, enjoying the get-together at their outdoor dining patio, erupted into laughter. Back in September, Stacey took her son Zachary to the NTAs. She later revealed why, saying that she feared missing too much of her older children’s lives.

Taking to Instagram, Stacey shared a series of photos of the pair modelling their NTAs outfits by a large tree at their famous home. She wrote: “On the way to the NTAs with Zachary who has been by my side in this crazy journey since the very beginning. I wouldn’t be who I am if it weren’t for you Zach.

“I’m so proud to be with you on such a special night, where I’ve been nominated for best present & best factual with my @sortyourlifeout family. I don’t believe I’d be on this path if it wasn’t for having you. My rock, since forever. to the moon & back forever…” [sic]

And as she accepted her award, Stacey took to the stage and gave Zachary a shoutout while paying tribute to everyone behind Sort Your Life Out.

Stacey and Joe’s new BBC doc features the couple at their enormous Tudor-style Essex home, which they call Pickle Cottage, with their children Zachary, Leighton, 12, Rex, five, Rose, three, and Belle, two, plus their dogs Peanut and Teddy.

Opening up about the experience of filming The Kardashians-style show, Stacey said she’d really enjoyed it, telling House Beautiful: “I mean, it’s been a bit weird – we’re the kind of family who are always popping down to the supermarket together, but obviously, when you’re doing that with a crew, it’s very different.

“It’s been a lot of fun to watch back; it’s just like watching home videos. In truth, I did worry we’d be a bit boring, but seeing it, I was like: ‘Oh my gosh, we’re actually quite funny.’ I would watch us!”
