Sunday Brunch: Triple H discusses wrestling career

A combination of hot cross buns and WWE isn’t something many would expect to come across on Mother’s Day, but that’s exactly what viewers were treated to today on Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch.

WWE royalty Triple H made a startling appearance on the show today alongside the likes of soap stars Adam and Ryan Thomas, DJ Sara Cox, comedian Bridget Christie and crooner Tony Hadley, making for a rather unusual line-up.

Unfortunately for the former pro wrestler, it seemed as though he wasn’t entirely sure what he had signed up for when he agreed to appear on the show.

As chef Simon Rimmer began to make some Easter treats in front of him, fans spotted Triple H looking equal parts “bored and confused” as he stared on.

Unsurprisingly, fans flocked to Twitter in hysterics over the bizarre scenes, with one writing: “I can’t get my head round Triple H being on @SundayBrunchC4. It’s like two different timelines have converged.”

While another commented: “Triple H is currently on Sunday Brunch and you’ll never ever find anyone more confused/bored watching someone bake hot cross buns.”

A third wrote: “Came on Twitter literally just to see if everyone else was thinking the same thing HAHAHAHA. #TripleH #SundayBrunch.”

“Following Brie Larson on Saturday Kitchen, Sunday Brunch have managed to book Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque, and just casually placed him amongst the names. What a time to be alive. #WWE,” another quipped. While one joked: “I bet Triple H is genuinely wondering why the f*** he’s on Sunday Brunch.”

Another commented: “triple h looking completely lost n out of place on Sunday brunch is making perfect hungover viewing.”

It’s certainly not the most unusual thing to happen on Sunday Brunch. Host Simon previously revealed that fans still get in touch over one of his most controversial moments on the show.

Speaking about the uproar he received on his take on a classic stew, he admitted: “Well yeah, but I made it on the show once and it’s the most controversial dish I have ever made on the show.” He continued: “People still now tell me, I got it wrong.”

Simon and co-star Tim Lovejoy have also previously been forced to announce last minute changes to the line-up after guests suddenly pulled out. In January, band The Lumineers pulled out due to a struggle with vocals and host Simon himself pulled out of the show that same month, leaving Tim to present alone.

Tim later explained that Simon was unwell and was unable to take part in the show. He said at the time: “Sadly, Simon Rimmer is a bit ill today. He’s got a bit of a dodgy tummy.”

The 56-year-old presenter went on to joke while making a drinking gesture: “So he says, I mean, he saw him out last night, you know, last night.”
